Description: Colorless liquid. There are left -, right -, racemic three forms. Insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, acetic acid, easily soluble in rosin. Pinene is the most important representative of terpenes, with α- and β- isomers, both of which exist in a variety of natural essential oils. Turpentine contains 58-65% α-pinene and 30% β-pinene. The right-pinene was found in wax turpentine and turpentine produced in Hainan Island, China, while the left-handed pinene was found in turpentine produced in Spain, Austria and China. Melting point -55℃, boiling point 155-156℃

Production method: Obtained by decompression fractionation of turpentine.
